Restaurant Xaloc (Zoo de Barcelona): Disappointing Eats (Honest Review)

Exploring the Barcelona Zoo and feeling peckish? While convenient, Restaurant Xaloc at the zoo (95PQ+GG, Ciutat Vella, 08003 Barcelona, Spain) might not be your best bet. Based on my recent visit, the food quality leaves much to be desired, and the price doesn’t justify the experience. In this review, I’ll share my thoughts on the restaurant’s offerings to help you decide where to grab a bite during your zoo visit.

Restaurant Xaloc: Convenience with Caveats

Restaurant Xaloc offers a convenient location within the Barcelona Zoo. This can be a tempting option, especially for families with young children who might need a quick refuel. However, there are significant drawbacks to consider.

Why Not a Recommendation?

Here’s why Restaurant Xaloc fell short during my visit:

  • Poor Food Quality: The quality of the food was disappointing. My burger and fries were served cold and lacked basic freshness. For the price (€30 for a burger, chicken nuggets, beer, and a small snack!), it was a significant letdown.

A 1 out of 5 Star Experience

Given the poor food quality and the high price point, Restaurant Xaloc gets a 1 out of 5 star rating from me. There are surely better options available to satisfy your hunger pangs during your zoo visit.

Alternative Solutions

  • Pack a Picnic: Consider packing a picnic lunch or snacks to enjoy within the zoo’s designated picnic areas. This allows for more control over food choices and budget.
  • Explore Nearby Restaurants: If you prefer a sit-down meal, there are likely restaurants located near the zoo entrance or exit that offer a wider variety and potentially better quality at a similar price point.

Final Thoughts

While Restaurant Xaloc might seem like a convenient solution, I recommend exploring other options for a more enjoyable dining experience during your Barcelona Zoo visit. By packing a picnic or venturing outside the zoo, you’re more likely to find tastier and more budget-friendly options.
